Growing on the erect stalk of this plant is a single large flower with 3 white or pinkish wavy-edged petals, 3 green sepals, and 6 stamens with pink tips. Each petal is marked at the base with an inverted crimson V. The leaves are in a whorl of 3 and are stalked, bluish-green, 2.5-5” long, oval and tapered to a sharp point.
Painted Trillium is found in cool, rich, moist woods and swamps. A dark red berry, which ripens in September, has 3 slight angles.
